Water refined by Aqua Life is better than the bottle
We provide pure, clean water without the health risks and environmental impact of bottled water
Often people that choose to drink bottled water do so in an attempt to avoid the contaminants found within their tap water. However, they may be getting more than they bargained for. Only 33% of our daily consumption of chlorine and disinfectant byproducts is through drinking. The other 66% of our exposure and absorption of these chemicals into our bodies comes from showering, bathing and brushing our teeth. The U.S. Council of Environmental Quality discovered that cancer risk is 93% higher in those with chlorinated water than those who are consuming water that does not contain chlorine.
Bottled Water Facts
Did you know that bottled water costs more per liter than gasoline for your car? For instance, a 24 pack of Aquafina bottled water from your local Walmart can cost you $37.50. That means you are spending up to 12 dollars per gallon. Tap water, on the other hand, costs only $0.0004 per gallon of water; less than 1/300 the cost of bottled water.
The recommended eight glasses of water a day, at U.S. tap rates equals about $.49 per year; that same amount of bottled water is about $1,400.
Several recent reports indicate the dire global situation associated with the world's plastic use. One shocking fact is the alarming rate at which we purchase plastic bottles. According to this report, humans collectively purchase a shocking 1,000,000 plastic bottles per minute.
Also revealed in this report is the fact that 91% of all plastic is not recycled.
It is estimated that over half a trillion plastic bottles will be sold in 2020. This presents an overwhelming challenge in responding to an exponential increase in recyclable yet un-recycled products.
Our water creates no such bi-products and greatly reduces the amount of plastic waste produced by your household.
Last year, the average American used 167 disposable water bottles, but only recycled 38. Americans used about 50 billion plastic water bottles last year.
According to the EPA, the average American person will produce about 5.91 pounds of trash, with about 1.51 pounds being recycled; 4.40 pounds is the rough average daily waste per person.
A recent Pacific Institute publication has found that America’s demand for bottled water uses more than 17 million barrels of oil annually, enough to fuel 1.3 million cars for a year. And that’s not even including the oil used for transportation.
Water bottles made from PET plastic leach compounds that mimic the hormone oestrogen. Previous research has focused on plastics containing the chemical bisphenol-a (BPA). During that time regular PET plastic water bottles have maintained a reputation as safe, at least as far as human health is concerned. But new evidence suggests that PET, or polyethylene terephthalate, may not be so benign after all. Scientists at Goethe University in Frankfurt found that estrogenic compounds leach from the plastic into the water.
But it now appears possible that some as-yet unidentified chemicals in these plastics have the potential to interfere with estrogen and other reproductive hormones, just as BPA and phthalates do.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that it is launching a review of the potential risks of plastic particles in drinking water, after a study found tiny pieces of plastic in more than 90% of samples from the world's most popular bottled water brands.
On average, each liter sold contained 325 pieces of microplastic, including polypropylene, nylon, and polyethylene terephthalate. In one case, a bottle of Nestlé Pure Life contained more than 10,000 pieces of microplastic.
